Living together

The circumstances when a couple choose to live together are always unique to that couple. For example some couples choose to live together:

  • With no intention of getting married or entering into a civil partnership;
  • As the first step before getting married or entering into a civil partnership; and
  • After they have got married or entered into a civil partnership.

It is important to appreciate that choosing to get married or enter a civil partnership or choosing not to enter into such a formal legal relationship has consequences upon your legal position following separation or death.

We can advise you on all of your options, for example the process of forming a cohabitation agreement, or a prenuptial/postnuptial agreement.
